McDonalds? Really? But Symphony was hungry, and it was close to the motel that she and the band was staying at, and a little fast food every now and then couldn't be that bad for her, right? Maybe she would get some salad...yeah, that was what she would do...even though their salads weren't really that healthy for you. Nothing in McDonalds was truly healthy, but oh well, Symphony was hungry, and it was better than eating whatever her cousin tried to stuff down her throat...motel food. Ick.
Walking out of her motel room she slipped one her shoes, then just walked out. She was so done telling everyone where she was going all the time...she was a big girl, she didn't need a babysitter. And she had a cell phone if someone got worried, so she was all good, really. Plus it wouldn't take long. She'd go in, get her food, sit down, eat, and leave. It was fast food. It shouldn't take an hour to eat...although sometimes it did take quite a while to make it, oddly enough. That was when Symphony usually thought fast food...yeah, right, but she never said anything about it. She was passive agressive, really, it probably wasn't a good thing.
Walking to the McDonalds she walked in, feeling the coolness of the air conditioner hit her. It was Summer in Cali, it was obviously hot outside. But the McDonalds was cool, and it felt good against her skin. It was almost enough to make her want to move in there...but then again, the smell of greasy fries would get old. even if McDonalds did have great fries. Better than Burger King any day. Walking over to the counter timidly, she looked up at the menu. This was the worst part of restaraunts...ordering. It always made her brain freeze up, and her mouth start working. That was when she remembered why she usually brought someone along with her...she'd never actually ordered her own food. She always had Milo, or Drew, or even Jake do it. And this was just making her want to run and hide. Especially when the woman behind the counter said 'how can I help you? in that overly friendly voice.
Symphony just stared at her for a second, and opened her mouth to speak...but of course nothing came out. Her mouth always failed her at times like these. Her brain was just screaming for her to say something, say anything, but her mouth never co operated.

This is a fight I refuse to lose--------------------------Jake was pretty damn hungry. He hadn't eaten yet today, which was stupid of him. Usually he ate as soon as he got up. But not today...he hadn't been in the mood to eat, for some odd reason. He still felt as if though Symphony was mad at him for what he had said the other day, and that made Jake kind of sad...and when he was sad, he didn't feel like eating. So it was off to McDonald's for him! He wanted a big mac or something. Jacob didn't have the best eating habits...but he was still skinny and healthy, so it didn't really matter to him. And he really liked McDonald's. Always had, even after he had seen that movie Super Size Me. That had been gross...but not gross enough to make him stop eating McDonalds. Sometimes he even ordered a Happy Meal so he could get those cool little toys!
He had been at some random park when the hunger had struck him. So now he jumped off his swing he had been swinging on and walked in the direction he hoped McDonald's would be in. He really didn't know where it was, so hopefully he wouldn't get lost. It was quite hot out, but of course...the boy had worn jeans, and now he was hot. Stupid Californian summers. They were really way to hot. And the hotness was just intensified by the fact Global Warming was going on...and the fact the stupid guy hadn't worn shorts. But he didn't like shorts, Jake preferred jeans. They were much better. Well, unless you were a girl. Then it was good to wear shorts. He liked girls in shorts. Well...not all girls. More like one- Symphony.
That was a fairly pervy thought for him to be thinking, so he tried to get it out of his head. If Milo or Drew knew what he was thinking...they would probably kill him. Of course they knew that he liked Symphony, considering it was quite obvious, but they thought it wouldn't last long. They thought he would find some other girl to flirt with in a few weeks since she kept denying him. But it had been a lot longer than a few weeks that Jake had liked Symphony. He had liked her for awhile now. Probably...half a year or more. Which was surprising. The most he had ever chased after a girl was probably three weeks. And his longest relationship had been like, four weeks. But he could last in longer ones, he knew it!
Walking into McDonalds, Jake was met with a shocking blast of cool air, clearing his thoughts instantly of Symphony. He ran a hand through his hair, making it stand up more than it already was. He really needed a haircut. Hopefully there was a good haircut place somewhere around here. There had to be! What town didn't have a hair place? A bad one, that's what kind. Approaching the counter he sighed, realizing someone was in front of him. And they were taking their time. Then he realized it was Symphony, and Jake felt bad for feeling annoyed. "Hey, Symphony." He said, poking her in the side lightly. That seemed to be his usual greeting for her. "What do you want me to order you?" Jake asked her, bending down to whisper it in her ear.

She continued just staring in shock for a few moments, and was just about to turn around and walk out when she felt a poke in her side. Not a hard poke, or anything, so she knew exactly who it was. Her face relaxed. What was he doing? Stalking her? That would be...weird...but kind of amusing as well. Although she highly doubted Jake would ever do that. He wasn't as creepy as some guys could be. She didn't even hear his greeting, because she was still so nervous, but when she heard the familiar voice whisper in her ear she imediately became less nervous. He was her hero! He was rescuing her...maybe it was pathetic, but she was kind of swooning. It was just like something in a movie...only..not. Because in a movie it would be a real emergency, not just her chickening out.
She turned around quickly, not wanting to see the face of the worker. She knew it was probably going to be annoyed. "Thank you so much..." She whispered. She could have kissed him...well, not literately, but figurativly. Like how they said it in all the movies... "Can you order me a Ceasar Salad?" She asked, her voice still low, as she took out a ten dollar bill and stuffed it in his hand. her cheeks were slightly pink, partly from being so embarrassed about the whole situation, and partly because Jake was in her presense. And also because...well, Symphony always blushed. She quickly stepped behind him, feeling much better when she wasn't exactly viewable by the worker. She felt like a small child hiding behind a parent when they saw some creepy person in the mall, or something of the sort. "Thank you so much..." She said, again, as she lifted her fingers to her mouth so she could bite her nails...one of her many nervous habits.
Standing behind him like that she kind of wanted to wrap her arms around his waist and hug him. He has basically just saved her life...well, kind of. He saved her from being embarrassed, or just having to walk out, or having to stutter out her order. For the moment he was her hero. Of course she would still have to say no if he were to ask her out...so she kind of hoped he wouldn't...whenever he did she felt so...horrible for having to say no. Even if she didn't say it in a rude way.

Sure, it hadn't been some brave, knight in shining armor thing, but he knew Symphony was shy, so it kind of was like a knight in shining armor thing. Hopefully she wouldn't think he was stalking her or something. That would be embarrassing. And Jake wasn't the easiest person to embarrass. Yeah, he got embarrassed, but not too often. Once in a very long while, sure. But definitely not as often as Symphony got embarrassed. She was embarrassed like...all the time. But it was kind of cute. At least, it was to Jake.
"No problem." He shrugged, running a hand through his hair. "I was hungry...guess you were too." He smiled, before putting the ten dollars back into her hand. And yeah...even though this couldn't be considered 'hand holding', it still sent those annoyingly great tingly feelings throughout his body. Aww, who would've known this flirt could be so cute?! Anways, once Symphony stepped behind him, Jake turned to the counter girl and smiled, hoping she would just forget how shy Symphony had been. "Hi, could I have a ceaser salad and a big mac with a diet coke?" He asked her, pulling out ten dollars from his own pocket. "Sure the girl replied, smiling flirtatiously at him. Jacob inwardly rolled his eyes and turned towards Symphony, putting a hand on her shoulder. "All good?" He asked, looking down at her.
Jake grabbed the tray off the counter and took his change and turned back to the tiny blonde girl once again. "Shall we find ourselves a table?" He asked for, taking her hand in his and leading her towards a table, knowing she would most likely agree with him no matter what. That was just what Symphony would do. "So, how are you today?" Jake asked, taking a sip of his diet coke as he sat down.

Symphony couldn't help but frown down at the money...did this make it like a date? And did she want it to be a date? No, it wasn't a date, that was just silly. It was McDonalds! Although she didn't exactly know weather to be happy or sad that it wasn't a date...in the end she decided to go with happy. Even if the mere thought of going on a date with him made her heart just about jump out of her chest it would still be a bad idea. A very bad idea. And when she peeked around him and saw the flirtacious smile of the lady she rolled her eyes, and shook her head a little bit. Why did all the girls flirt with him?! Of course she knew why...but could they not do it when she was around? Then again, he wasn't hers, or anything. Although she did note that Jake hadn't really flirted back..which made her feel all warm and tingly inside, oddly enough. Like she wanted to hug him. Maybe he was changing for her! But she shook that thought out of her head...that was silly.
"I'm fine..." She mumbled, looking down at her feet instead of up at him, which she knew would only lead to butterflies in her tummy. She hated those...but she loved them at the same time. Her feelings were so confusing, really, they were. Mostly because she was kind of refusing to admit them, even to herself, really. It wasn't healthy in the least. She knew she was going to end up exploding someday, she just hoped it would be to someone she could trust not to tell anyone...and not Jake. That would not be good.
As she felt the warmth of Jake's hand consume hers she butterflies started...stupid things always showed up at the worst times. "Yeah. Table." She agreed, allowing herself to be dragged over to a table, even though her legs were hardly working. They felt like jello. She sat down in the seat across from him, glad she didn't have to walk on her jelly-like legs anymore, and inhaled deeply. She couldn't take this. She just wished she could tell him. But of course she wouldn't. "I'm good." She said, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible, as though just being in the same place as him wasn't pretty much making her day. "How are you doing?"

This is a fight I refuse to lose-------------------------- Jacob hadn't really considered since he was paying that it was a date. He payed for lots of stuff. And well...he wasn't in the right mood to joke around that this was their first date. Because he was so hungry and Jake would definitely not take Symphony to McDonalds for a date...ever. He would take her somewhere nice. Like...The Manor. Well, maybe not for a first date...that place was expensive, and their band didn't have a ton of money. But they could go to Applebee's. Yeah, Applebee's was nice. That would be a good first date. And he was proud of himself for not flirting with that counter girl! He was trying to change...he really was. Maybe Jake wouldn't change completely, but he'd try and change at least like...75%.
"That's good." He nodded, glancing over at her. What was with him? Why wasn't he flirting? That was definitely odd for Jake. But he was just trying to...lay off her though. After what had happened the other day, he still felt bad, even though she had told him not too. And it didn't help that he got these crazy freakin' butterflies pretty much every time he looked at her. So now he was kind of trying not to look at her. Symphony probably thought he was the weirdest person right now. But he couldn't help it! If he allowed himself to act how he was really feeling right now, he'd kiss her...right there in the restaurant.
Jacob sat at the table and allowed himself to look at her for a few seconds. Ugh, butterflies! He busied himself with looking down at his big mac and picking the pickles and onions off. He hated picked and onions. They were gross. And they gave you breathe too. And who wanted that? Not Jake, that was for sure. "That's good." He said again, taking a bite out of his big mac. "I'm fine." He shrugged. "Little hungry...but fine." Jake told her.

What the hell was wrong with him? Why wasn't he flirting with her? He was hardly looking at her! It was driving her crazy. She kind of wanted him to flirt with her, even if she'd never admit it... oh my god, what if he turned gay? The very thought made her cringe. Not that she was homophobic, but the very thought of Jacob being gay felt like her heart was getting torn out. So she mentally shook that thought out of her head. No way could he be gay. Nope, it was impossible. Not that it mattered if he was, really..he would still be Jake...she would just have to chance with him. But did she really want a chance with him? Oh, how she hated her brain. Things would be so much easier if he didn't have one...that way she could have just dated him without thinking about it...because she wouldn't have been able to think...
"That's good..." She muttered, looking down at her salad, and opening it, before picking up the plastic fork they had given her. She hated plastic ware...it was bad for the economy, was it not? That was also the same reason she preferred to walk most places, never used paper towels, and picked up any garbage she found on the side of the street. She wasn't exactly a tree hugger, but she didn't want to ruin the world for future generations. Nonetheless she still took a bite of her salad. It was pretty good...and probably healthier than anything else in the place. She really didn't want to gain weight...she liked being skinny and short, and skinny and fat people...just looked wrong. When they were tall they could sometimes get away with it, but Symphony knew she wouldn't be able to.
She looked up from her salad, trying to catch her friends eye. She wasn't particularly fond of how he was acting on this particular day...well, asides from that he didn't flirt with the lady. That made her happy just thinking about it. But she had a feeling that Jake was still feeling bad about the other day, even though she'd told him not to. Which made her sad, because she didn't want Jake to feel bad about anything. "You're...you're not still feeling bad about the other day, are you?" She asked, a frown tugging at her lips. there was something different about him... "Because I really don't want you to feel bad, or anything..." She liked seeing him happy...even if that meant he flirted with everyone who was within a five mile radius.

This is a fight I refuse to lose-------------------------- Jacob was definitely not gay. He would never be gay. He would never even be...bi. Well, maybe he'd considered being bi once he was down with Symphony denying him. But probably not. Most likely he would try and make her jealous with another girl and if that didn't work...well then he would definitely consider the male gender after that. Jake wondered what Symphony would say if she found out he was gay though. Would she care? Be shocked? She probably wouldn't care...but she would definitely be shocked. Everyone would be shocked! Jake was just...too flirty with all the women to be gay or bi. So maybe he should flirt with Symphony...and only Symphony for a bit, just so she would know he was fine.
But he just...wasn't in the mood to flirt! No matter how hard Jacob tried, he couldn't get the words out to flirt with her. All he could think of were one line responses that were definitely not flirty. More like the opposite of flirty. "Yeah, but, it's more important that you're good." Jake said to her, lifting his head to smile in her direction. Finally! A semi flirty response. And a smile. That was good...he was doing better. Hopefully he didn't have any food in his teeth...that would be embarrassing. Oh god, he sounded like a freaking girl now. Good thing Symphony couldn't read this mind! That would be bad, and even more embarrassing. "You should eat some like...fries or something." Jake told her, pushing some of his over to her. "That salad looks...gross." Jake hated salad. Always had, always will.
He looked over at her while she talked, setting down his half eaten burger. His stomach was slowly filling up, thank god. Jake ate like a sixteen year old guy sometimes. Never stopping. Well, at least, that was how he and his friends ate when they were sixteen. Non-stop! He didn't know if all teenage guys did that. Just knew he did. "No, I'm fine, really, Symphony." He said, chuckling slightly. Oh god, could she read his mind? That would be fucking creepy if she could. And embarrassing. And he didn't get embarrassed. Well...okay, he kind of did around Symphony. But he liked her! What guy wouldn't get embarrassed around the girl they liked? "Even though I was a complete jerk to you...I'm over it." Jake promised, smiling at her again.

A smile! That was a start. She loved his smile, she really did. It was so...familiar to her. Like her own little home away from home. Even if he definitely wasn't being his normal flirty self he was smiling...which was good. And, of course, she definitely could not read his mind...although sometimes she wished she could. She wanted to know everything he was thinking...because maybe then she could hear if he really truly liked her...and then maybe they could date! But only if he really did, of course. She was so done with dating guys who were just going to break her heart because she wouldn't have sex with them, or fool around with them, or anything like that. She wasn't ready for sex...no matter how old she was. She just wasn't. She'd never even gotten close to it! And she just wasn't ready. Not that she didn't ever think about it...she just...she knew she wasn't ready. And she hadn't liked any of her previous boyfriends enough to even consider sex with them. Of course that didn't stop Milo from giving her the sex talk every three seconds...it was quite funny that he gave it to her, rather than her own mother. Of course her mother had given it to her once, but Milo kept it on repeat, like a broken record. It got rather old.
"I don't want fries." She said, pushing them back towards him, and taking a bite of her salad. "I like salad." She liked eating healthy in general, really. She was kind of considering going vegetarian. Even though she did love chicken...but it really was cruel to eat animals...even if it was all part of the food chain. She could live without meat, though, she really could. Okay, maybe she would have to wait until after tour, though...eating healthy on the run was kind of hard. "The only reason it doesn't look good to you is because you're a carnivore." She teased.
She reached over and patted his hand, without even really thinking about it. It was really meant to be a comforting gesture. "You weren't a jerk." She said, firmly. Even if he claimed to be over it she didn't want him thinking he was a jerk, when he wasn't. Sure, what he said had kind of hurt her, but she still didn't want him feeling bad about something that had happened days ago...she was over it, too. Kind of.

This is a fight I refuse to lose-------------------------- Even though it was just a smile...Jacob was already starting to feel a bit better. Smiling always made him feel ten times better...which was why he did it a lot. And Jake actually liked his smile. It was straight- thanks to the two years he had spent with braces, and extra white due to his habit of brushing his teeth a lot. So he was proud of it! Those two years with braces had not been fun, nor very pretty. So wasn't it normal he wanted to show off the finished product? Of course it was. And the ladies seemed to love his smile...so it was all good. Jake wondered if Symphony liked his smile. He sure hoped so. And Jake definitely liked her smile. He liked everything about her, goddammit! If only she would say yes to him when he asked her out... But Jake probably wouldn't ask her again for a few days. He wasn't a fan of rejection. No one was! But if Jake did ever get to be her boyfriend...he definitely wouldn't pressure her to have sex. Yeah, it'd be great, but if Symphony wasn't ready...he'd just have to deal with that.
"How can you not like fries?" Jacob asked, amazed. Everyone liked fries! They were like...the best food ever. Even if they weren't the healthiest. But you could make them healthy...just make them at home. He had done that a few times. The fries had been okay...but not the same as McDonalds. They had the best fries, by far. A&W was a close second though. But A&W was so freaking expensive that he didn't go there very often. So he settled for McDonalds, which wasn't too bad. "I'm not a carnivore." Jake said, pouting at her. "You're just like...a freakin' rabbit." He teased, smiling. "But I like rabbits." He told her, winking.
Jacob looked down at his hand, surprised that she had actually reached over and touched him like that. Usually he was the one touching her. Okay, that sounded wrong. Not like that. But like putting his arm around her waist the other day! Symphony was usually never the one who made the physical contact between them... Jake always was. But he liked it. "Symphony, stop being nice for a second. I was a jerk, okay?" He told her. "And I will continue saying I was until you agree with me." Jake smirked. "So just agree with me and everything will be fine." He said, a smile on his face.

seeing that Jacob was getting back to normal made Symphony feel much better. He had winked, so he was obviously flirting. But he was flirting with her, not some other girl, which only made it ten million times better than if he was flirting with some random girl who passed their table. Even though as long as he was flirting with someone Symphony knew he was feeling better.
"The grease in fries hurt my tummy." She said, shrugging a little bit. "I think I might have acid reflex. But probably not. Plus the fries here are all slimey and gross. I don't mind those smiley fries that my mom used to make when I was little, though." Those used to make her happy when she was little. Even when she was upset if her mom popped some of those in the oven she started smiling, just like the fries. Plus they weren't all slimey and greasy, so they didn't hurt her tummy. She hadn't had them in a year or so, though. She'd have to buy some sometime. "Well, I'm glad you like rabbits..." She mumbled, looking down at her salad, feeling kind of embarrassed. Where had that came from? That was...probably the closest thing she'd ever come to flirting. Okay, so it still wasn't exactly flirting, but it was kind of close, right? And so completely out of character it scared her. The second closest thing she'd ever got to flirting was back when she was a Freshman in High School...and she told some guy that he had nice hair. She never talked to him again.
Stop being nice? The idea was slightly foreign to the girl. People had always told her to be nice when she was younger...and so she was always nice. Even if people weren't always nice to her...being nice wasn't always a good thing. Her being too nice was the main reason everyone on earth walked all over her. Well, almost everyone. The few friends she had didn't...but everyone else did, once they realized they could. It probably wasn't a good thing. But it couldn't be that bad to call him a jerk, right? he was telling her to! And so that was being nice, right? Plus, he had kind of been a jerk. And she wanted him to stop calling himself a jerk...and it seemed the only way was to tell him that he had, in fact, been a jerk.
"Fine, you were a jerk." She said, nervously, still looking at her salad, and spinning the little white fork around in her fingers. "But it's okay." She said quickly, feeling like she had just commited some horrible crime, or something. "I like jerks." The last part had just fallen out of her mouth, but she wished it hadn't. Because it just sounded...weird.

And surprisingly...it wasn't as hard as he thought it would have been. All Jake had to do was ignore the girls, which was easy once he thought of Symphony. Once he thought of her...her just buckled down and told himself to stop looking at a girl, and he could stop!
"Well, I don't want your stomach to hurt." He frowned, pulling his fries away. "That'd be bad!" And it would be. Jacob didn't want his Symphony feeling or getting sick! Well, okay, not his Symphony. "Maybe I can make you those smiley fries one day..." Jake offered, looking over and smiling. He hadn't had those fries in a long time. He used to love them as a kid too. He'd really have to make them one of these days. Then she said she was glad he liked rabbits, and Jake looked up quickly, nearly getting whiplash. Had that been...had that been Symphony flirting? No...it couldn't have been. She didn't flirt! But still...it was something different, and Jake liked it. A lot. He could have jumped up out of his seat cheering. But that would cause a scene...and Jake didn't want to cause a scene right now. He wanted it to be just him and Symphony.
Jacob loved...yet kind of hated how nice Symphony was all the time. He wished she would just let loose for once, tell him how she was really feeling. Tell him when she was pissed off, tell him when she was sad! But Jake knew that would probably never happen. She was just...too much into this little shell. Maybe, if he was lucky, he'd be able to get her to come out...just a little bit. Show her how to have fun, how to do some unexpected things. Though that line she had just said had been fairly unexpected. But she could do more unexpected things! Jake would show her the way. And even though that would probably involve some work...or a lot of work, he'd try. He really would.
"Thank you." Jacob smiled, taking the last bite of his hamburger. Damn, those things were good. Fattening, but good. A run around the lot would help him work some of it off. And just walking around town would help too. He had to strain to hear the next part, and almost thought he had heard it wrong. Yes, yes, she was flirting! Saying she liked jerks. "Well, if I'm a jerk and you like jerks, and you're a rabbit and I like rabbits...I think we're the perfect match." He told her, raising an eyebrow. "Don't you think?" Anyone who walked by would probably think they were completely crazy from this conversation.

Symphony loved him. She really loved him, he was her best friend, and he was the sweetest guy on earth, and every time she heard his voice she felt those butterflies. The ones she'd gotten so used to she hardly even noticed anymore. Maybe it was a little odd that she liked him, as he was her best friend, and sometimes she felt like he was an older brother...but in a different way than Milo. It was confusing. Everything was just so damn confusing...but she didn't even care anymore. Even if she wasn't going to jump out of her seat and kiss him, or anything like that, that didn't mean she had to be so...conserved. Okay, maybe she did, it was just her personality. But maybe...she could tell Jake how she was feeling...he was kind of changing, or at least he seemed like he was, and just because she told him that she liked him didn't mean they would have to date, or anything...because she still wasn't sure that she wanted to date him. She just felt like she was going to explode if she didn't tell someone. The only problem was how, and when. She kind of wanted to just do it right then, but decided against it. She'd need to work up the courage first. It was pathetic.
"I'd like that." She said, smiling a little bit, and taking a small bite of her salad. He really was sweet, you couldn't deny that. Probably the sweetest guy on earth. And everything about him was just so familiar. Even if she was still nervous around him she wasn't as nervous as she was around some guys. Or even some people. Around most people she could barely talk, but around Jake she talked quite a bit...well, for Symphony, at least. She never really talked all that much. Okay, understatement, but around Jake she always felt like she was talking too much. Even though she was still barely talking at all half the time. Probably because around Jake she was always worry about everything; from how she looked to weather she was talking to much, to if she had forgotten to tie her shoes. She assumed it was because she liked him.
What he said next made her butterflies flutter horribly in her stomach. What was she supposed to say to that?! She could say what she normally would...which would probably be just to laugh it off like a joke. But that would be so wrong. She had kind of been leading him on...hadn't she? Would he think she was some kind of tease...? Oh, she didn't want him to think that! She wanted him to think...good things about her. And so instead she had to pretty much force herself to say "Yeah...well, maybe." She bit her lip, then looked down at her hands, before saying what she said next. She wasn't sure if it was a sensible thing to say, but she said it anyway. "But...I don't know. For all I know...you could say the same thing...to all the other rabbits..." Okay, that made just about no sense, but she didn't care. She was hoping that Jake would get what she was saying...and then maybe understand why she always turned him down when he asked her out...

And you know, you know it's true
This is a fight I refuse to lose-------------------------- Jacob definitely had those butterflies whenever she talked to him...or said those slightly flirty lines. Or when...well, whenever he was around her! He just liked her so much, and Symphony didn't like him. Well, maybe she liked him. Jake wasn't sure yet. There were signs that pointed to yes...and signs that pointed to no. But he loved her...even if she were kind of like family. But not really. He wondered what Milo would say. Would he be mad? Probably not. Well, he'd be mad if Jake ever broke Symphony's heart. Which he wouldn't! Even just thinking about that happening broke his own heart. Jake didn't want to hurt her...and he never would. He'd rather jump off a 50 foot bridge with a broken bungee cord than break Symphony's heart.
She would like that? Really? Well, that was definitely a good sign. Jake thought Symphony would have politely refused somehow...but hadn't! And that was great. "Me too." He grinned. "We'll have to go buy some later." Jake said. She seemed to be a bit less nervous...slightly more talkative. Even though she wasn't saying much. But Jake loved her voice, and loved hearing her talk. He also loved how she was more of herself around him at times. That meant she was comfortable with him, and Jake loved that. Now if he could just convince her she was the only one he liked! Then they would really be getting somewhere. Not that they weren't getting anywhere right now...they were. But if she knew how he really felt, well then...it would just make things move that much faster. And Jake wanted things to move fast. At least, right now. Once he was in a relationship, he'd go as slow as Symphony wanted. He wasn't the type to pressure girls.
Jacob waited for her reaction, wanting to see what she would say. Most likely just laugh it off...think he was joking. But he wasn't joking! He really did think they were a perfect match. Okay, well, not perfect. No one was prefect. But they were pretty damn close. Jake listened to her response, wishing she could look up at him while she spoke. But he knew it was hard for Symphony, so he let it slide. He had to choose his next words carefully so he wouldn't mess this us. Jake stuck a couple fries in his mouth, chewing as he thought of the perfect words to say. "Well..." He began quietly. He didn't want those teenage girls at the next table who were giggling at looking at him to overhear. "What if I didn't care about the other rabbits? What if the only rabbit I was interested in was the one across from me?" He asked her. Yes, those were definitely the perfect words.

Symphony merely nodded in response to him saying they would have to buy some later, although she was kind of excited. Mostly because she was getting to have smiley fries...eating those always made her feel like a little kid again. Although when she was younger she had been very mature. Even in her childhood when she was supposed to be annoying and loud she was just quiet, and liked to stay in one place, reading or drawing. She was the child every mom wanted, and her mom got it. Her brother and cousin also benefited from it...because they never really had to deal with the annoying little sister that wouldn't leave them the hell alone. Symphony would leave them alone, if asked, and she wasn't annoying in the least, really. Other than when she was being overly quiet, and instead of answerign things you asked her she just ignored you. But that was more when she was younger, thank god, she'd grown out of that.
And despite the fact that what he said was said quietly she knew he was sincere in saying it. Okay, maybe he was saying it quietly, and she could tell he didn't want anyone to over hear, but she didn't know why. Maybe he was trying to be romantic or something. Either way she really didn't care...she just wanted to say...so much. The words were swirling around her brain, it was confusing her, she didn't even know what to say. She wanted to say it all, but none of it made sense, it was all jumbles of words clustered together to shape half formed sentences that would make no sense to anyone but herself. And so instead she just took a deep breath, then said in a slightly helpless way. "I don't know what you want me to say." she was still avoiding eye contact as she said this. She didn't want to see his face. "I like you...but...we wouldn't work out, I mean, you know that." She regretted saying that last part. What if he was kidding, or playing some kind of joke on her? Or what if he didn't even want to date her, rather he just wanted to take her on a date or two, or something? Oh god, it was so embarrassing. "I...I should probably leave." She said, dropping her fork into her salad. "I...should...go." She didn't want to leave...she didn't even look like she wanted to leave. She was more saying it so that he could have the option of asking her to leave if the whole thing had been a joke, and he didn't want to face the awkwardness. It was sad, even when she was so embarrassed, she was still thinking about others more than herself.
